This means that the tomedo server runs on a Linux system, while practitioners work with Macs, MacBooks, iPads, or iPhones. This architecture distinguishes tomedo® from Windows-based systems like CGM Albis or Medistar. ##### Who provides tomedo® software support at homeit-system? + Zollsoft, as the manufacturer, provides direct software support. We complement this with Apple hardware, secure networking, IT integration, and on-site service in Herne, Bochum, and Essen. A clear division of labor: software at zollsoft, infrastructure and local service at our location. ##### What hardware do I need for tomedo® in my practice? + For typical practices, we set up a dedicated Linux server in a virtual machine on a Proxmox hypervisor. The tomedo server component runs there. The practitioners work in parallel with Apple devices (MacBook, iPad, iPhone) running the tomedo client software. A very small solo practice can sometimes manage with a single Mac mini that combines server and client functions. We tailor the exact configuration to the practice size and specialization. ##### What requirements does the KBV (National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians) place on my practice network? + The KBV IT Security Guideline (binding according to §75b SGB V) provides clear specifications for practice networks. The most important point is network segmentation: the practice IT network, the medical technology network, and the patient Wi-Fi must be separated from each other, with defined firewall rules in between. We will examine your existing network on-site. If the existing hardware does not meet the requirements, we will procure suitable devices together. Zollsoft, the manufacturer of tomedo®, recommends Ubiquiti UniFi devices: a UniFi Dream Machine (UDM) as the central routing and firewall device, along with UniFi switches for network segmentation. This allows for the clean implementation of the required separate networks, and keeps the system easy to maintain. ##### How does the TI connection (e-prescription, eAU, KIM) work on tomedo®? + tomedo® natively supports e-prescriptions, eAU (electronic sick note), and KIM-Mail. We install or migrate the TI connector and configure KIM-Mail on the provider side. Existing TI connectors can usually still be used. ##### Will my patient data remain locally in the practice or will it go to the cloud? + tomedo® runs in its standard setup with a local Linux server in your practice. Patient data remains physically with you. We recommend this on-premises option for most practices because it supports full data sovereignty and the implementation of the KBV IT security guideline. ##### How quickly can I switch to tomedo®? + The lead time from initial inquiry is currently around 6 to 8 months. This is due to the planning capacities of the manufacturer, zollsoft, which performs the actual software migration. We recommend using this waiting time actively: During this period, we will set up your hardware infrastructure (Linux server with Proxmox, Apple devices, network, IT infrastructure connection) so that everything is ready for production on the day of the software migration. We cannot currently provide specific figures regarding the migration duration itself. Our first tomedo migrations are currently being prepared. ##### Does homeit-system offer tomedo® training courses? + Zollsoft conducts the official tomedo® training courses. We support your team on-site during day-one deployment: hardware setup, Apple configuration, TI functions, and network troubleshooting. ##### Is tomedo® also suitable for practices with multiple locations? + Yes. For practices with multiple locations, we recommend an architecture with two tomedo servers that synchronize with each other. This ensures that each location has its own live instance. Each location thus remains operational even if the connection between the locations is temporarily interrupted. ##### How do I get in touch? + The easiest way is via the contact form on this page or by phone.
